..."The large sculptures that Cristina Bonucci is preparing for Spoleto take her exploration of the human body a step further. In her earlier works, which were mainly paintings, Cristina captured the image of her own body on canvas. Those evocative traces are reminiscent of Yves Klein's Anthropometries, with the difference that they were created by the artist herself as a positive post-feminist act. In those works, the simplicity of the approach was counterbalanced by the distinctive way in which they were presented, floating in space. In fact, the canvases were not placed against a wall, but suspended in mid-air, so that they could be viewed from both sides, each side depicting a different image. Although her canvases lacked three-dimensionality, Cristina already presented them as if they were sculptures."...
